Samsung i550Bringing Samsung up to date on the recent smartphone improvements around the world, they are offering up the i550, i560, and i780 models to the UK market soon. With the three new models, Samsung is hoping to regain some of the business of the smartphone market that other cellular phone manufacturers have been snapping up recently.

The Samsung i780 is slated to run Windows Pocket PC, while the other two models the Samsung i560 and Samsung i550 are both slated to run Symbian S60. For features, the Samsung i550 is slated to pack in some powerful features such as the 2.6” bright color screen, and an impressive 128MB of RAM. Other features include a s60 supported web browser, HSDPA connection, 3MP camera, voice recorder, and even trackball navigation. Rounding off the Samsung i550 is the GPS navigation system.

Next up is the Samsun i560, which is a slider-based phone that is bringing HSDPA high speed web browsing, 2.4” bright color screen, the same 3MP camera as the i550 however this model is giving you flash for even better pictures. Other features include GPS navigation and also content management system and an FM radio.

Samsung i780The last model coming up soon is the Samsung i780, which is designed to be a superior business styled phone. Including a size of only 12.8mm thin, this tiny phone offers some huge features such as Windows Pocket PC OS, IM, Wi-Fi connectivity, and even a sweet little 2.55” color screen. Additional features on the Samsung i780 include the GPS, 2MP camera (which goes down a whole MP from lower models, not a good sign here) and even the ability to use Podcast and RSS tools.

Some other goodies packed into the Samsung i780 include the nifty little optical mouse features and even the Google functionality. Overall, while this phone is making an effort to step up into the smartphone market, there is still a bit of improvement to be made before this phone really hits the spot. As an improvement over former smartphones, that Samsung has offered it is huge, but work is still left to be done to really land Samsung as a competition to the smartphone market.
