Who was saying that the mega-pixel race is over? Sony just had announced new W300 compact digital camera with no less then 13.6 Mpix optical sensor.
The main feature of a newly announced W300 is that 13.6 mega-pixel optical sensor, which is moving resolution border even further, for compact digital cameras.
And Sony take care that the rest of the camera would be hi end and to follow properly 13.6 sensor. New W300 is using Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.7 inch LCD display.
Also the whole casing is made from titanium alloy, so it look absolutely gorgeous and it’s highly resistant to scratches and fingerprints smudges. Like the previously presented Sony’s fast ultra-zoom camera H50, W300 also has new improved burst mode.
W300 can shot burst with at 5 frames per second – at reduced 3 mega-pixel resolution , what is quite a impressive result in this class, even at 3 mega-pixels.
Sony Super Steady shot, sensor shift optical stabilization comes almost compulsory for all new Sony’s digital cameras, so W300 has it also. But additionally to Super Steady shot there is a new option to rise up ISO up to 6400 – at reduced 3 mpix resolution also. Don’t expect wonders from photos taken at that ISO settings, it’s a still small sensor.
Good thing is that Sony has implemented new software option to chose amount of color noise removing – as on H50.
It will available in March, for about $350.
