Canon used media attention about Photokina to present successors of bestselling cameras in last year. Canon EOS 400D comes as replacement the fastest selling dSLR camera ever, Canon PowerShot A630 and A640 are evolution of A5XX class, cameras from A510 to A540 are absolute bestsellers on North American market, leaving competition down down. This is an announcement for the Canon A710IS successor for A700 that was the strongest model in Canon A class cameras.
In similar bit more stylised, but still compact body, Canon packed 1Mpix more comparing to predecessor A700. So A710IS has image sensor with 7.1Mpix. Behind two letters in model name IS, Canon hide optical image stabilization, not yet seen in Canon A class.
All good sides of A700 are preserved, and many new features are added. Extensive range of shooting modes, full manual control, VGA movie recording, ISO 800 image sensor sensitivity, optical stabilized lens and large 2.5” LCD screen.
Canon PowerShot A710 IS key improvements:
- 7.1 MPix image sensor
- 6x optical zoom with optical Image Stabilizer – first camera in Canon A class with optical stabilised lens
- DIGIC II, iSAPS, 9-Point AiAF, FlexiZone AF/AE – DIGIC II imaging processor still have no competition on the market
- 2.5” LCD with wide viewing angle and optical viewfinder
