On of many premieres on PMA 2006 International Trade Show is new Canon evolution of EOS 20D digital SLR camera the new EOS 30D camera. Canon try to add and improve all things that 20D was missing and make next bestseller in its price range. 30D in slightly redesigned body offers spot metering, selectable continuous shooting speed, ISO settings viewable in viewfinder and now adjustable by 1/3 stop increments, longer shutter cycle life and larger LCD display. Also the image buffer is larger so 30D can shoot 5 fps same as 20D but it can store 30 frames in buffer before speed reduces to 3fps at 20D stores only up to 24 frames. It uses same CMOS sensor used in 20D with 8.2Mpix and same image processor DIGIC II as 20D but adds on Picture Style pre-sets , with same processor 30D offers shorter startup time. Trend of lowering prices continuous so new EOS 30D have lower price than 20D.
If you have 20D and you are not a too demanding user that push camera to the limits, there is no need for upgrade to 30D. But if you are buying new camera there is no doubt 30D is the right choice for slight less money.
