MacWorld, annually Apple and Mac related fair, is always used by Apple to present some new technology or product that they think that will be most important for the Apple company in that year. On this years MacWorld in San Francisco, among the other newly presented products MacBook Air gathered most media attention.MacBook Air is currently the world’s thinnest notebook. MacBook Air measures an unprecedented 0.16-inches at its thinnest point, while its maximum height of 0.76-inches. MacBook Air has a 13.3 inch diagonal display, a full-size, backlit keyboard. Also it has a built-in iSight video camera for video conferencing, and a trackpad with multi-touch gesture support so users can pinch, rotate and swipe, using same gestures as on the iPhone or iPod touch.


Heart of new MacBook Air is a 1.6 GHz or 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor both with 4MB L2 cache. Smooth operation is guarantied by the standard 2GB of RAM memory. And for storage you can chose tween 80GB 1.8-inch hard drive or 64GB solid state drive, which has no moving parts for enhanced durability and battery life.

In construction of the thinnest laptop in the world some compromises had to take place, so new MacBook Air doesnt have optical drive unit, but it can use external drive from any computer near by, via WiFi 802.11n or Bluetooth 2.1.

Only thing that is not thin about this dream machine is it’s price that starts at $1,799. But comparing to the portability and autonomy that this kind of laptop provides it is bearable. Shipping will start in two weeks.
